Welcome to the Investment Robo-Advisor Account Report for April 2016!

April Investment Robo Advisor Report

April Investment report has not been too bad this month but not as fantastic as last month. For comparison, March for Betterment went up +16 compared to April’s +5, but hey, in the end, I am still making money.

Overall Earnings

I am actually more impressed with my overall earnings. I added this category so that we could track how much money we have made thus far in the challenge. April doesn’t seem to bad when we are looking at the total sum. In the last two months, Betterment has made me $24.04, Wealthfront has made me $16, and Vanguard trailing in last at $5.04. (remember we only have 2 shares of VOO invested).

Why Robo Advisors

I chose to investigate robo advisors versus traditional investment vehicles to which how much my money will grow in each one. For a year, I will invest $500 into a Betterment (robo advisor) account, Wealthfront (robo advisor) account, and into an index fund, Vanguard, and watch to see which one does better.

I have found thus far, that the robo advisors continue to have the better interface, easier to understand graphics and ease of investing.

This Month

For this month, our earnings not only continue to increase, but our actual return increases as well. Betterment is still the clear leader across the board and the stock VEA seems to be a leader amongst the pack.

A change from this month was the majority invested in Wealthfront, the stock SCHB.

SCHB Investment Robo-Advisor Account Report

Turns out Wealthfront is investing in Schwab U.S. Broad Market ETF. I don’t know too much about SCHB but I will trust where Wealthfront is putting my money.

Get Involved

If you are just tuning in, I am investing $500 into three different investment accounts to see which one grows. Why might you ask? Well, for those new to investing or those who want to start but are not sure where to begin or, you might have some money and want to grow your wealth, but aren’t sure which is best for you, I wanted to test out some great options.

Anyone can sign up for these robo advisor accounts and, personally, it was very easy to set up the account with both Betterment and Wealthfront. I recommend investing a few dollars and see what happens!
